Due to continued growth across European markets, they are now seeking a German-speaking Senior Tax Manager to lead on all corporate tax matters related to their German operations and broader European responsibilities.


๐ŸŽฏ The Role

As Senior Tax Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing German tax compliance, managing risks, tax filings, audits, and reporting. You'll also lead a team spanning the UK and Germany, while working closely with global tax leadership to support strategic tax initiatives.

This is a hybrid role, based in their modern Chester office with flexible working (2–3 days per week in the office).


๐Ÿงพ Key Responsibilities

  • Lead direct tax compliance and US tax reporting for Germany and other selected European markets
  • Oversee local German tax compliance, planning, and reporting
  • Act as German Tax Compliance Management System Officer, reporting risks and updates to senior leadership
  • Manage German tax audits, including travel to Germany to liaise with tax authorities and finance teams
  • Advise local finance heads and educate internal stakeholders on changes in tax legislation
  • Prepare US GAAP tax provisions, forecasts, and contingency reports
  • Support cash flow planning and analysis related to taxes
  • Ensure strong internal controls aligned with SOX, corporate, and local compliance standards
  • Leverage technology for efficient tax calculations and reporting
  • Manage external tax advisory budgets and internal resourcing
  • Foster a high-performance culture, emphasizing teamwork, accountability, and customer focus 

โœ… Your Profile

  • Fluent in German and English (spoken and written)
  • Degree qualified with relevant German tax credentials (e.g. Steuerberater, Fachassistent für Steuerrecht, Steuerfachangestellte)
  • Proven experience in corporate tax compliance & reporting, preferably in a multi-national environment
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, tax provisions, and financial statement disclosures
  • Strong leadership and people management experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP is a plus
  • Ability to work across cross-border teams and thrive in complex, fast-paced environments
  • Highly organized, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities
