Our client, based in central London, is a specialist translation company.
To join their international translation department, they wish to recruit a Proofreader / Translation Checker with fluency in either Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, Turkish, Mandarin, Cantonese or Korean.
Your role, which will report to the Production Team Leader, will be responsible for proofreading and correcting documents in specified languages. The areas of responsibility are the following:
- Proofreading of documents against originals in a variety of languages
- Checking of typeset documents for layout and content
- Editing/proofreading/quality check of documents before dispatch to the client
- Checking the EMEA website and updating templates versions on the network
- Assisting with training of students during placements
- Keeping up-to-date with changes in the language(s) they speak
- Use of “analysis” tool to assist the Project Managers with issuing quotes and administration of project translation memories (when necessary)
- Liaise/support with other departments within the company
You should have the following background for the role:
- Either Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, Turkish, Mandarin, Cantonese or Korean to mother tongue standard + fluent English
- Educated to degree/university level in a languages discipline
- An ability to work quickly and proof read from Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, Turkish, Mandarin, Cantonese or Korean INTO English
- Experience of TRADOS is an advantage but not essential
This job will start in central London but will transfer to Buckinghamshire, 20 minutes from NW London, in June or July 2010.
