Based in Buckinghamshire, our client is an international company, specialising in translations for companies mainly from the scientific, chemical, engineering and medical sectors.
To join their translation division to the engineering sector, they wish to recruit a German speaking Translator, to translate electrical engineering related texts from German into English.
Your role will include the following duties and responsibilities:
- Daily checking of forthcoming work schedules and liaison with Translation Coordinator
- Liaison with the allocation team and production team as required
- Review of each job ticket for specific translation order requirements
- Clear dictation of translations
- Drawing customer’s attention to flaws in source text
- Use of research methods to resolve queries
- Assistance to production staff as required
- Attendance at notary as necessary
- Input to Sales team as necessary
- Approval of own work after proofreading
- Checking other translators’ work when resource planning demands
To be considered for this role, you must have the following skills and background:
- English to mother tongue standard + excellent knowledge of German
- Be educated to degree or PhD level in electrical engineering
- Defence/military experience or knowledge of heavy switchgear would be ideal
- Have a keen eye for detail
- Have accurate language/grammar abilities
- Problem solving ability and an ability/desire to work as an individual, but as part of the wider translation team
- Previous industry work experience in the engineering sector
An education or background in translation is not necessary as full training will be given! It is essential that you have a professional understanding of the engineering sector and would like to have a new career in translation!
